15. September 20, Ann Arbor News – (Michigan) Up to 600,000 gallons of sewage overflow into Huron River in Ann Arbor. City officials in Ann Arbor, Michigan, announced September 19 that up to 600,000 gallons of sewage overflowed into the Huron River September 17 – September 19 after construction debris accumulated in a sanitary sewer pipe, blocking the flow of the sewage. • North American Health Care Inc., its chairman of the board, and its senior vice president agreed to pay a total of $30 million September 19 to resolve allegations that they caused the submission of false claims to Medicare and Tricare for medically unnecessary services from January 2005 – December 2011. – U.S. Department of Justice

17. September 19, U.S. Department of Justice – (National) North American Health Care Inc. to pay $28.5 million to settle claims for medically unnecessary rehabilitation therapy services. North American Health Care Inc. (NAHC), its chairman of the board, and its senior vice president agreed to pay a total of $30 million September 19 to resolve allegations that they caused the submission of false claims to Medicare and Tricare for medically unnecessary rehabilitation services provided to residents at NAHC skilled nursing facilities in California and elsewhere from January 2005 – December 2011. As part of the settlement, NAHC entered a 5-year Corporate Integrity Agreement requiring an independent organization to annually review the therapy services billed to Medicare. 2. September 20, U.S. Attorney’s Office, Southern District of Florida – (International) Former United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement deportation officer pled guilty to bulk cash smuggling. A former U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) deportation officer pleaded guilty September 15 to Federal charges after he allegedly smuggled over $2 million into the U.S. when he and co-conspirators, traveling from the Dominican Republic to the U.S. attempted to conceal the money in at least 7 pieces of luggage in order to avoid a currency reporting requirement on the U.S. Customs and Border Protection declaration form. The charges state authorities discovered the money during a subsequent search of the co-conspirators’ luggage.

The FBI is searching September 20 for a woman dubbed the “Wicked Wig Bandit” who is suspected of robbing 5 banks in the Denver metropolitan area since August, including a Chase Bank branch in Northglenn September 19. 22. September 19, SecurityWeek – (International) Rockwell patches code execution flaw in RSLogix product. Rockwell Automation released patches for several of its RSLogix products used in the food and agriculture, critical manufacturing, water, and chemical sectors to resolve a buffer overflow vulnerability after a researcher discovered the flaw can be exploited by convincing a local user to open a specially crafted rich site summary (RSS) file with a malicious version of RSLogix in order to execute arbitrary code on a targeted system.
