Twelve people were injured in a multi-vehicle crash involving as many as 20 vehicles on Interstate 57 near Peotone February 20. Five accidents took place on northbound lanes and two accidents took place on southbound lanes closing a 6-mile stretch of the highway for several hours. Twenty-five people were charged by federal authorities February 20 for allegedly running separate, and sometimes competing, schemes to bill the government’s Medicaid program in Washington, D.C. for in-home health-care services that were not provided. The group is accused of recruiting Medicaid recipients to make false claims for services, racking up tens of millions of dollars. Airbus researchers discovered a new type of ransomware named BitCrypt and found a way to restore infected, encrypted files after discovering the developers made a mistakenly generated a 128-digit number instead of a 128-byte key. Adobe released an out-of-band update to patch three vulnerabilities including a zero-day, and researchers from FireEye released a report stating that the zero-day was used in an attack dubbed “GreedyWonk” which targeted visitors of multiple economic and foreign policy sites. 27. February 21, Softpedia – (International) Massive DDoS attack launched against Namecheap’s DNS platform. Namecheap announced that it suffered of a massive distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack, targeting around 300 domains in its DNS platform.
