9. February 12, KSFY 13 Sioux Falls – (South Dakota) Shooter believed to be among two dead in Lennox shooting. One worker was killed and two others were injured February 12 when a gunman opened fire at a Sioux Steel plant in Lennox, prompting the factory, nearby businesses, and area schools to go on lockdown. Police believe the alleged gunman was found in a secondary situation near Lennox where police found the body of an individual and a handgun inside the cab of a badly-burned semi-truck.  · A water main break in Dixmoor, Illinois, February 12 prompted the water department to shut off service to about 3,600 residents.– WLS 7 Chicago

A water main break in south Dixmoor February 12 prompted the water department to shut off service to about 3,600 residents. 17. February 13, Associated Press – (California) 22 Marines exposed to fire retardant in California accident. Twenty-two U.S. Marines were treated for exposure to halon, a fire retardant gas, February 12 during a training exercise after an extinguishing system accidentally went off in an assault vehicle at the U.S. Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms, California. Authorities reported that an equipment malfunction caused the fire suppression system to go off inside the amphibious assault vehicle. 4. February 13, Softpedia – (National) In the wake of TurboTax fraud, email scams emerge. Intuit reported an increase in phishing scam attempts to harvest personal and financial information from TurboTax users using a variety of themes including notifications of bogus security checks, fake tax return status updates, or notices of locked accounts. Users are led to click on an URL that links to a fake log-in page used by hackers to steal names, addresses, and Social Security numbers. 5. February 12, KHOU 11 Houston – (Texas) Brinks guard shot at Capital One Bank near Galleria dies. Authorities are searching for three suspects after their getaway vehicle was found near the robbery scene following an attempted robbery of a Brinks truck that left a security guard dead near the Galleria area of Houston February 12. 15. February 12, WCYB 5 Bristol – (Tennessee) Federal officials now involved after data breach in Johnson City. Johnson City-based State of Franklin Healthcare Associates’ officials announced February 12 a potential breach of their payroll information that occurred around February 3 where hackers took the stolen information and attempted to file tax refunds under the victims’ names. The company is continuing to investigate the breach and has removed any hardware and cleaned all software attached to the payroll processing system. 23. February 13, Help Net Security – (International) 16 million mobile devices infected by malware. Alcatel-Lucent’s Motive Security Labs released a report and found that approximately 16 million mobile devices worldwide were infected by malware, with a 25 percent increase in infections in mobile devices in 2014. Researchers also found that command and control (C&C) protocols were more sophisticated and mobile spyware increased, among other findings.  24. February 13, Securityweek – (International) RIG exploit kit source code leaked online. Trustwave researchers analyzed an alleged leak of a source code for an RIG exploit kit and determined that the code is legitimate after the individual published the code after attempting to sell it online. The leaker also purported that the exploit kit included exploits for two Internet Explorer, two Adobe Flash Player, one Microsoft Silverlight, and two Java vulnerabilities.
