Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, announced that 18 neurological
patients may have been exposed to Creutzfeldt - Jakob disease after being
operated on in January by surgeons who used tools that had not been

Reuters – (North Carolina) 18 NC patients may have been exposed to rare
brain disease. Officials from Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center in
Winston-Salem announced that 18 neurological patients may have been exposed to
Creutzfeldt - Jakob disease after being operated on in January by surgeons who
used tools that had not been sufficiently sterilized after they were used on a
man suspected of having the disease. The hospital stated that the possibility

Softpedia – (International) New POS malware JackPOS targets companies in
Canada, Brazil, India and Spain. Researchers at IntelCrawler identified a
new piece of point-of-sale (POS) malware dubbed JackPOS that has been spotted
in attacks on POS systems in several countries over the past 3 weeks. The
malware is disguised as the Java Update Scheduler in drive-by attacks and has

Associated Press – (New Mexico) NM farmer gets 14-year prison term for
tax fraud. A Hobbs, New Mexico farmer was ordered to pay over $18 million
in restitution and serve 14 years in prison after he was convicted of tax
evasion and other charges. The farmer also made false statements in order to

KOIN 6 Portland switched to low-power after a fire in an electrical room in
a building in Tualatin spread to transformer lines and knocked the station,
along with KATU 2 Portland and KRCW 32 Salem, off the air February 10 while
