4-alarm fire that broke out October 4 inside the B.D. Classic Enterprises epoxy
coating manufacturing facility in Santa Fe Springs sparked a series of
explosions and spread to a paint company and machine shop, destroying all three
businesses comprised of five buildings. HAZMAT crews monitored potential

(Texas) Texas firm recalls ground beef product due to possible foreign
matter contamination. The Food Safety and Inspection Service announced
October 4 that Sam Kane Beef Processors issued a recall for about 90,987 pounds
of its ground beef products that were shipped to retailers in Texas due to the
possibility that they may be contaminated with foreign metal fragments. The
recall was issued after the company received four separate consumer complaints
involving the products, including one customer who reported a chipped tooth.

auto loan scam before Pittsburgh federal judge. A Hercules, California man
pleaded guilty October 3 to his role in a nationwide vehicle loan fraud scheme
that cost financial institutions between $1 million and $2.4 million. The scheme
was first discovered in Erie, Pennsylvania, by the U.S. Secret Service and
prosecutors stated that others would be charged in the scheme that used 64 fake

Bandit” is responsible for at least three bank robberies in King County, with
