(Texas) Police identify Artesia man killed in oilfield explosion. Two
workers were killed and nine others were injured in a pressure explosion at an
RKI Exploration & Production drill site near Orla, Texas, April 30 while a
well head was being installed. Officials are investigating the incident after
employees were able to shut down valves and secure the area before responders

plant in DeLand, Florida, was charged April 25 for improperly disposing more
than 150,000 pounds of hazardous waste on the facility’s grounds between 2010

(Florida) State: DeLand-area plant manager dumped 150,000 pounds of
hazardous chemicals. A former manager of the Thatcher Chemical plant in
DeLand was arrested and charged April 25 after a State investigation concluded
he was responsible for improperly disposing more than 150,000 pounds of
hazardous waste on the facility’s grounds between 2010 and 2011. Thatcher
Chemical was fined more than $230,000 by the Florida Department of
Environmental Protection in March in response to improper dumping at its DeLand

Noxapater, Mississippi, April 28, leveling 8 poultry houses and killing about
220,000 Tyson Foods-owned chickens, while causing an estimated $1.5 million in

Tornado leaves thousands of dead chickens on shattered poultry farms in
rural Mississippi. A large tornado hit Wilkes Farm in Noxapater,
Mississippi, April 28, leveling 8 aluminum- and wood-framed poultry houses
holding about 220,000 Tyson Foods-owned chickens. Only a few chickens survived
and the loss of the chicken houses alone were estimated at about $1.5 million.

(Florida) 2 killed, dozens injured in Florida jail explosion. An
apparent gas explosion April 30 at the Escambia County Central Booking and
Detention Center in Pensacola demolished part of the building, killed 2
inmates, left more than 100 others injured, and prompted the evacuation of
about 600 prisoners. Authorities are investigating the cause of the explosion.

Villanova basketball star charged with pushing clients into $1.2B Ponzi scheme.
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission charged the former CEO of
Radnor-based Ballamor Capital Management April 30 with fraudulently inducing
his clients into investing around $100 million into a fund that was used to buy
fake lawsuit settlements from a man who was later convicted of running a Ponzi
scheme. When the former CEO’s firm collapsed, investors lost the roughly $100

announces $10K reward for ‘Wandering Bandit.’ The FBI offered a reward
April 30 for information relating to a suspect known as the “Wandering Bandit”
who is thought to be responsible for at least 4 bank robberies in 3 States. The
man is suspected in the robberies of banks in Illinois, Indiana, and Mississippi,
with the most recent robbery taking place at a Heartland Bank branch in

$96 million Ponzi scheme. An Old Westbury man pleaded guilty April 29 to
running a $96 million Ponzi scheme that purported to invest funds in funds and
securities but instead used the money to support the manager’s lifestyle and to

construction crew accidently cut a fiber optic cable at the Fort
Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport April 30, causing dozens of flights
to be delayed, rerouted, or canceled as well as Wi-Fi service disruption for
