(Ohio) Youngstown man admits dumping toxic fracking waste into Mahoning
River. An employee at Hardrock Excavating in Youngstown pleaded guilty
August 29 to dumping tens of thousands of gallons of fracking waste on at least
24 occasions into a tributary of the Mahoning River. The employee told
authorities he acted on the orders of his superior and ran a hose from the 20,000-gallon
storage tanks to a nearby storm water drain and opened the release valve.

U.S. Justice Department announced August 29 that an Army sergeant based at Fort
Campbell pleaded guilty for taking payments from a trucking company
representative to facilitate the theft of 25 truckloads of fuel from a military
base in Afghanistan. The total amount of loss to the U.S. was over $400,000.
