Plant in Colorado May 5 closed the plant indefinitely, left one worker with
minor injuries, prompted the evacuation of employees, and the voluntary

Drake Power Plant in Colorado Springs closed after fire. A 4-alarm fire at
the Martin Drake Power Plant in Colorado Springs May 5 left 1 contract employee
with minor injuries, prompted the evacuation of employees, and the voluntary
evacuation of residents in a 3-block radius, while firefighters worked to
contain the blaze. The plant is closed indefinitely while authorities

• Interstate 15 in Hesperia, California, was
expected to remain closed in both directions for about 2 days after a
construction worker accidentally ignited the wooden supports of the Ranchero

7. May 5, Associated Press – (California) I-15 closes NE of Los Angeles after
bridge fire. Interstate 15 in Hesperia was expected to remain closed in
both directions for about 2 days after a construction worker accidentally
ignited the wooden supports of the Ranchero Road overpass bridge with a blow
torch May 5. Officials recommended alternate routes until bridge repairs are

into the Bush River in Harford County, Maryland, after heavy rains April 30

causing officials to shut down barge traffic which transports gasoline to the

May 6, WJHG 7 Panama City – (Florida) Intracoastal
waterway shut-down results in empty gas pumps. The Intracoastal Waterway
levee at the Bay-Walton County line in Panama City was breached due to heavy
rains the week of April 28, causing officials to shut down barge traffic which
transports gasoline to the local market, in turn creating a gas shortage at
several stations. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers estimated the cost to

6, Softpedia – (International) Casino operator Affinity Gaming
hacked again. Casino operator Affinity Gaming reported that their systems
were compromised in a data breach that allowed attackers to access the
company’s system for processing credit and debit cards at its casinos. The
company was investigating and was unsure of how many customers were impacted or

5, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission – (International) SEC
charges Toronto-based consultant and four others in reverse merger schemes
involving China-based companies. The U.S. Securities and Exchange
Commission (SEC) charged a Toronto, Canada-based consultant and four associates
May 5 with conducting illegal reverse mergers in order to bring two China-based
companies into U.S. markets and manipulate trading in order to make millions of
dollars in illicit profits. The consultant and two associates agreed to
settlements with the SEC and to pay over $9 million, while litigation continues

5, Softpedia – (International) Man suspected of hacking Swiss
banks arrested in Thailand. A Moroccan citizen was arrested by authorities
in Thailand on suspicion of working with 10 others to compromise the accounts
of several Swiss bank customers and steal around $18 million. The suspect is

2, KCRA 3 Sacramento – (California) Granite Bay man arrested,
accused of $6.8M fraud. A Granite Bay man who owned and operated National
Credit Acceptance Inc., was arrested May 2 and charged with 6 counts of bank
and wire fraud for allegedly defrauding a bank of $6.8 million by misleading
the bank regarding a line of credit that he used for business expenses and to

6, Help Net Security – (International) Windows flaw allows access
to data after accounts are revoked. Researchers at Aorato found that
disabled, deleted, expired, or locked-out accounts in Microsoft Windows
networks can remain valid for up to 10 hours after being revoked, potentially allowing

6, Softpedia – (International) DrawQuest shut down after hackers
gain access to Amazon servers. DrawQuest shut down its free drawing
community service following a compromise of its systems where attackers used
the service’s Amazon account to order hundreds of expensive servers. There was
no indication that users’ encrypted passwords were stolen, though users were

5, Reuters – (Arizona) Workers exposed to chemical leak at Intel
plant in Arizona. Two workers at an Intel Corp. plant near Phoenix were
taken to a hospital for observation after a spill of around 100 gallons of
ammonium hydroxide caused by a construction crew that accidentally cut into a
