(International) SEC charges Stryker Corporation with FCPA violations. Michigan-based
medical technology company Stryker Corporation agreed to pay more than $13.2
million to settle charges brought by the U.S. Securities and Exchange
Commission concerning the company’s subsidiaries in five countries using bribes
to medical and government employees in order to make around $7.5 million in

Louisiana) Bank awarded $27.8 million in real-estate fraud case. A
federal judge awarded IberiaBank of Louisiana $27.8 million as the result of a
civil lawsuit against a Columbus homebuilder and his accountant for
fraudulently obtaining loans by overstating the value of a home. The original
award of $9.3 million was tripled because the homebuilder and accountant’s
pattern of fraud violated the Racketeer Influences and Corrupt Organizations

attacks. Prolexic’s third quarter 2013 report on distributed denial of service
(DDoS) attacks found that attackers have often shifted to using smaller botnets
for distributed reflection denial of service (DrDoS) attacks that allow
attackers to obfuscate the source of the attack and to use the bandwidth of

impacted. CenturyLink officials reported a contractor in Hamilton in
Ravalli County cut a fiber-optic trunk line October 23 causing phone, DSL
Internet, and emergency services to suffer an outage. Service was expected to

23, Mediabistro.com – (Maryland) WHAG transmitter outage going on fourth day. The
television station, WHAG 25 Hagerstown, reported the station’s transmitter
suffered an outage October 20 that prevented the transmission of an over the air
signal. Crews were reportedly looking into the cause and offered no estimated
